Kate Spade Inspired Table Setting
This year I used Kate Spade as the inspiration for my New Year’s Eve party decor (to go with my Kate Spade Christmas tree). So that’s where this Kate Spade inspired table setting came from.
The elegant black, white and gold color scheme works well for more dressed up events like New Year’s Eve…and the pop of color keeps it fun!

Black and white is the basis of a lot of Kate Spade’s styles. And it’s what I used as the basis for my table setting as well. This black and white striped table cloth was actually made by Kate Spade.
But you can replicate the effect by using black and white striped wrapping paper over a black table cloth. Since I only have one real Kate Spade table cloth, this is what I did for the other tables in my room.
Add Gold and Pink Accents
I like to use glasses as vases any time I want to repeat the same floral arrangement down the table. In this case, I cut the stems off of pink roses and floated them in gold-stemmed wine glasses.
A few black and gold Mardi Gras beads on the table add some fun accents.
Mercury glass candle holders and pink diamond-shaped “crystals” finish off the center piece.
Gold, Black and White Place Settings
For the place settings I started with a gold charger and then added white and black plates.
Add gold-rimmed glass salad plates and gold cutlery to complete the look.
Add Black Napkins
Using black napkins with DIY pink napkin rings (you can find out how to make them HERE) echoes the pink from the roses and the “crystals”.
This look really show cases the black and white, with pops of gold and pink.
Or Use Pink Napkins
For more color, pink napkins also work.
The pink really stands out against the black and white background.
With pink napkins, the color is definitely the focal point of the table.
The Finished Table
Since I’m a color person, I decided to go with the pink napkins.
And used my favorite champagne flutes…perfect for New Year’s Eve!
However, the black napkins also looked good.
The centerpiece is fast and easy, and looks like fun.
Using wine glasses as vases is an easy way to duplicate the flowers on the table.
A big vase of pink roses carries the color to the buffet.

Beautiful! Love the height on the side board instead of on the table. Like the pink napkins. Very nice.
Thanks, Aunt Elaine! I have a thing against centerpieces on the table that are too tall…I don’t like having to look over or around them to see the person on the other side of the table…so the tall things usually end up going somewhere else 🙂
