This blue, white and gold Christmas tablescape combines rich fabrics, sparkling gold accents, and classic blue and white ginger jars for an elegant holiday table setting. By mixing pieces I already owned with a few inexpensive finds, I was able to create a glamorous look without buying a whole new set of tableware.

Blue, white and gold is a beautiful color combination for an elegant Christmas tablescape.
The rich blue creates a gorgeous backdrop for white dishes and decorations, while touches of gold add plenty of festive sparkle.
And if you love decorating with blue and white ginger jars, there’s no reason to put them away for Christmas.
Their classic patterns look beautiful with holiday greenery and gold accents, making them a great starting point for a Christmas table that’s both festive and elegant.
Here’s how I put together my blue, white and gold Christmas tablescape, from layering the table linens and place settings to creating a ginger jar centerpiece and decorating the buffet to match.

Start with a blue tablecloth

I used a blue satin tablecloth as the base for the entire tablescape.
It’s actually the kind of tablecloth that’s usually used for weddings and other large events.
I like using them when I’m having a lot of people over for a sit-down dinner because they’re inexpensive, easy to clean, and come in so many colors.
And if someone spills red wine and leaves a stain that won’t come out, replacing one isn’t a big expense.
Layer white velvet table runners across the table

Rather than running a table runner down the center, I placed white velvet runners across the width of the table.
This helps define the individual place settings while adding another layer of texture.
I found the runners at TJ Maxx, and I especially love the embroidered design on the ends.
The soft velvet is a nice contrast to the shiny satin tablecloth underneath.
Add sparkle with gold place mats

The gold glittered branch place mats are one of my favorite details on this table.
They add texture underneath the dishes, and the glitter catches the light from the candles and other decorations.
I originally found them at Pier 1, so they’re no longer available. But you could get a similar look by buying plain twig placemats and spray painting them gold.
Mix and match your dishes and glassware

Fortunately, I already owned most of the dishes and glassware, so I didn’t have to buy a whole new set for Christmas.
Mixing and matching dishes you already have is one of my favorite ways to create a fresh look without spending a lot of money.
For this table, I combined pieces that work with the blue, white and gold color scheme rather than trying to find Christmas-specific dishes.
The blue wine glasses add a little extra glamour and help carry the color scheme through the place settings.
Create a centerpiece with blue and white ginger jars

For the centerpiece, I decided to use blue and white ginger jars as the focal point of the arrangement.
I arranged them in the center of the table.

Then added a couple of gold deer statues at either end of the arrangement.

Finally, I filled in the spaces with pieces of faux evergreen garland, gold Christmas ornaments. and some candles for extra sparkle.
The ginger jars tie in with the blue and white color scheme, while the greenery, gold ornaments, and deer give the centerpiece a festive Christmas look.
The buffet

For the buffet, I spread some faux evergreen garlands and battery operated lights across the top.

Then filled some lanterns with ornaments.

Finally, I hung an ivory wreath above the buffet to brighten up the backdrop.
The kitchen counter

Because I often have unexpected guests show up for dinner, I like to have some “overflow” seating at the kitchen countertop.
Adding some table settings there that co-ordinate with the dining area gives me room for extra guests, and helps to tie the whole room together.
Bring the Whole Table Together

What I like most about this tablescape is how all the different textures work together.
The satin tablecloth provides a rich blue background, the white velvet runners soften the look, and the glittered gold placemats and ornaments add sparkle.
And because I mixed things I already owned with a few inexpensive accessories, I didn’t have to spend a fortune to create a completely different table setting.
