Why I love this Kir Royale cocktail recipe
There’s something about a Kir Royale that makes any event feel extra special without requiring a lot of effort.
Made with just two ingredients (champagne and Chambord), it’s incredibly easy to whip up and always looks so pretty in the glass.
It’s the kind of cocktail that instantly elevates any celebration, whether it’s ringing in the New Year, a Galentine’s Day gathering, a bachelorette party, or even serving as a signature drink at a wedding.
It’s simple, elegant, and tastes absolutely delicious, making it a go-to for any occasion where you want to impress without stressing.

Ingredients

Here is your shopping list (for 1 cocktail):
- Alcohol – ½ ounce Chambord, 4 to 5 ounces Champagne
- Fresh produce – fresh raspberries
Substitutions & Additions
- For the “Emily in Paris” version of a Kir Royale, use Creme de Cassis instead of Chambord. I prefer Chambord for its slightly richer and more complex flavor, but Creme de Cassis will give you a darker red color.
- Any dry sparkling wine (such as Prosecco or Cava) will work instead of the Champagne.
How to make a Kir Royale cocktail

1 | Mix the cocktail
Measure ½ ounce Chambord in a jigger.
Then pour it into your champagne flute.
If your glass is larger than the typical 5 or 6-ounce flute, consider adding a little more Chambord to keep the proportions right.
Once the Chambord is in the glass, carefully top it up with chilled champagne.
Pour slowly and only fill the glass about 3/4 full to prevent it from fizzing over the top.
2 | Garnish and serve
Add a few fresh raspberries on top for a pop of color and a little extra flavor.
If you don’t have raspberries, you can use a twist of lemon or a small sprig of mint instead.
Serve the drink immediately to enjoy the bubbles and freshness at their best.
How to make ahead
While the Kir Royale cocktail can’t really be made in advance because the champagne will go flat, you can do some prep work a few hours ahead of time to make serving faster:
- Wash the raspberries and store them in a bowl in the refrigerator.
- Pour ½ ounce of Chambord into the bottom of your champagne flutes.
- When it’s time to serve, fill the glasses with chilled champagne and top with 2 or 3 raspberries.
This way, the cocktail can be assembled quickly and still look and taste fresh.
