guava martini ingredients - malibu rum, whipped cream vodka, regular vodka, guava nectar and whipped cream

Here is your shopping list (for 1 guava martini):

  • Ice – enough ice cubes to fill a cocktail shaker
  • Alcohol – 2 ounces whipped cream vodka, 1 ounce Malibu Rum (or other coconut-flavored rum), 1/2 ounce plain vodka.
  • Juice – 4 ounces guava nectar. Guava nectar can be found in most grocery stores in the refrigerated section with the other juices (in a carton) or on the aisle with non-refrigerated juices in 11.5-ounce individual cans.
  • Dairy – whipped cream (optional)

Substitutions & Additions

  • The plain vodka can be omitted and replaced with an extra ½ ounce of Malibu (for a total of 1.5 ounces of Malibu rum)
  • The whipped cream garnish (NOT the vodka) can be omitted, however the drink will be a bit less creamy.

How to make a guava martini

  • 1 | Mix the cocktail

alcohol and juice being measured and poured into a cocktail shaker

Begin by filling a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes. This will chill the ingredients and help blend them smoothly. Using larger ice cubes can prevent the drink from becoming too diluted.

Add the whipped cream vodka, Malibu rum, and guava nectar to the shaker.

Shake for 15 to 20 seconds until the ingredients are well mixed and chilled.

To do this, seal the shaker tightly. Then hold the shaker with both hands, one on the top and one on the bottom, and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker feels cold and slightly frosty.

Strain the cocktail into a martini glass, leaving the ice cubes in the shaker.

They don’t usually fit well in a martini glass and will water down your cocktail.

For an extra touch of indulgence, you can top the martini with whipped cream. To do this, gently swirl the whipped cream on top of the drink, starting from the center and moving outward in a circular motion. This adds a creamy texture to the tropical flavor of the cocktail.

    Pro tip:

If you want to keep martinis colder for longer in the glass, chill the martini glasses in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Serving suggestions

If you want to dress your drink up even more, try rimming the glass with pink rimming sugar.

Or add a skewer of pineapple chunks and maraschino cherries across the top of it.

How to make a big batch

If you are hosting a get-together and don’t want to spend all your time mixing martinis, you can make a big batch version of this cocktail ahead of time. To do this:

  • Add 2 cups whipped cream vodka, 1 cup coconut rum, ½ cup regular vodka and 4 cups guava nectar to a large pitcher. Stir to combine. (Skip the ice since it will water down the martini).
  • Store the pitcher in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve.
  • Stir again (or shake with ice if you prefer) just before serving, then pour into martini glasses.
  • Top the glasses with whipped cream.

This makes about 8 large (7.5-ounce) martinis or 12 smaller (5-ounce) martinis.
