How to make a 4th of July charcuterie board

close up of brie with a star cut in the top of it on a 4th of July charcuterie board
  • 1 | Prep work

Cheese cut into stars, skewers made with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella pearls and blackberries, a round of brie with a star cut out of the middle, sliced strawberries and sliced red peppers

Start by lining your serving board with parchment paper to keep things clean and make cleanup easier.

Next, slice a red pepper into thin strips.

Slice the strawberries if you prefer smaller pieces.

Press a star-shaped cookie cutter into slices of provolone cheese to create star shapes.

Use the same cookie cutter to cut a star shape out of the top of the brie cheese. Then remove this piece and fill the hollow with fruit jam for a sweet surprise.

Thread a cherry tomato, a mozzarella pearl, and a blackberry onto serving skewers.

Fill a small bowl with yogurt-covered raisins.

  • 2 | Add the large items

A slate board with a round of brie, round crackers, square crackers and red, white and blue skewers

Place your serving board horizontally in front of you.

Then start by placing the larger items on the board.

First put the brie cheese in the bottom right corner.

Surround the top of the brie with round crackers, laying them out in a half-circle.

Place the blackberry skewers in the top left corner to create a visually appealing contrast.

Fill the bottom left corner with rectangular crackers.

If your board is large enough, place the small bowl of yogurt-covered pretzels at the bottom center of the board. If your board is smaller (like mine), just serve the bowl on the side.

    Pro tip:

This setup is just a suggestion, and you can arrange the items based on your preference and the size of your board. Pay attention to the color of the items on the board to make sure they are distributed equally.
  • 3 | Lay out medium items

A slate board with a round of brie, round crackers, square crackers, red, white and blue skewers, red pepper slices, pepperoni slices, strawberries and white-chocolate covered pretzels

Next we’ll lay out the medium-sized items.

Arrange a stack of the sliced red peppers under the round crackers, beside the brie, .

Next to the crackers, lay out a row of pepperoni slices, folded in half for a neat presentation.

Between the pepperoni and the skewers, add a generous pile of white chocolate-covered pretzels.

Tuck a few sliced strawberries between the rectangular crackers and the pepperoni, right under the pretzels.

  • 4 | Fill in the gaps

A slate board filled with red, white and blue fruit, cheese and sausage.

Finally, fill in the gaps with the smaller items.

Add blueberries below and around the brie.

Fill in the space between the red bell pepper and strawberries with the slices of white cheddar and pepper jack cheese.

Sprinkle raspberries in the small gap between the round crackers and the pepperoni.

Place blackberries between the pepperoni and the pretzels, ensuring every inch of your board is filled.
