Valentine’s Day How To: Easy Heart Napkin Folding Tutorial
Create a pretty and romantic Valentine’s Day table setting using this simple step-by-step heart napkin folding tutorial with pictures.
If you’re looking for a way to incorporate Valentine’s Day into your table setting, this heart napkin folding tutorial is perfect! It’s easy and won’t cost you anything.
The only thing you need to make a folded napkin heart (besides your napkins) is an iron.
Step 1: Fold the napkin in half with the loose ends at the bottom. Press it with the iron.
Step 2: Fold the napkin in half again with the loose ends at the bottom. Make sure that the top layer completely covers the loose ends underneath. If your napkins aren’t even around the edges, you may need to fold it down a little more than half way. Press it with the iron.
Step 3: Turn the napkin over. The loose ends should be at the bottom and you should see all of the uneven edges.
Step 4: Fold the napkin up at one end so that the point is about half way across the length of the napkin. Don’t press the fold yet…we’ll do that after the next step.
Step 5: Fold the other end up to meet in the middle. This will eventually be the front of the heart so you want to make sure that the edges meet in the middle and that the corners are about even. Press it with the iron.
Step 6: Turn the napkin over with the point facing down.
Step 7: Fold over the top right corner of one of the tail ends. Press it with the iron.
Step 8: Fold over the top of the tail ends. Make sure that the fold is low enough so that all layers of the napkin are folded. Press it with the iron.
Step 9: Fold over the top left corner of the tail end. Press it with the iron. Don’t worry if it doesn’t lay completely flat. As long as it will stay folded on its own, it will work.
Step 10: Fold over the top right corner of the other tail end. Make sure that the corners meet in the middle. Press it with the iron.
Step 11: Fold over the top of the other tail end. Again make sure that all layers of the napkin are folded over. Press it with the iron.
Step 12: Fold over the top left corner of the other tail end. Make sure that the outside corners are about the same height. Press it with the iron.
Flip the napkin over and you have a heart!
The heart shape looks really pretty on the table.
Adding a rose to it is an extra romantic touch. Since I like to set the table in advance, I usually use these faux roses* instead of real ones. Then you don’t have to worry about keeping them watered!
For this table setting, I cut out an extra heart from some pink sparkle ribbon*. It reinforces the whole Valentine’s Day heart theme.
