Apple Strawberry Jello Shots
Made with Sour Apple Pucker, apple juice and strawberry jello, this apple strawberry jello shots recipe is a boozy adult treat. I’m never sure if they’re a cocktail or a dessert, but whatever you call them, they’re tasty and super easy to make.
Anyone who has been to my house knows that I am the queen of Jello shots. I never throw a party without them!
They can be made the day before, come in pretty much any flavor and color you can think of, and they’re like a dessert and a cocktail all wrapped up together. What’s not to love?
That also means I’m always trying out new flavor combinations (I don’t want my friends to get bored with the same old ones every time).
And I think these apple strawberry jello shots may be my new favorites!
They’re made with Sour Apple Pucker, apple juice and strawberry Jello. Only 3 ingredients so they’re super easy to make. Always a bonus!
And the sour apple adds a little tang to the strawberry sweetness, which is really tasty.

Here’s your shopping list (it’s very short!):
- gelatin – 1 3-ounce package strawberry jello
- juice – 1 cup apple juice
- alcohol – 1 cup sour apple pucker
- If you don’t have apple juice on hand, you can replace it with water.
- For stronger jello shots, use apple vodka instead of the sour apple pucker.
- For weaker jello shots, replace some of the sour apple pucker with apple juice.
- To make non-alcoholic apple strawberry jello shots, replace all of the sour apple pucker with apple juice.
How to make strawberry apple jello shots
The prep work
Lay out 16 2-ounce plastic shot cups like these ones* in a shallow baking dish, cookie sheet or tray.
I find the 2-ounce shot glasses work better than the 1-ounce kind (just too small) or the 4-ounce variety (more like a bowl than a shot).
Also, I like to use the ones that come with lids. They won’t spill if they get knocked over before the jello is set. And they are easier to store and serve since you can stack them.
The baking dish will catch any spills and make it easier to transport the jello shots to the refrigerator.
Make the jello shots
In a small sauce pan, boil 1 cup of apple juice. Remove from the heat as soon as it starts to boil since you don’t want too much of the liquid to evaporate.
Pour the gelatin into a bowl or large measuring cup. Using a bowl with a spout* will make pouring the jello mixture into the shot cups easier.
Add the hot apple juice and stir until all of the gelatin crystals have dissolved, about 1 minute.
Mix in 1 cup of sour apple pucker (or apple vodka if you prefer).
If you don’t like as much alcohol in your jello shots, substitute apple juice for part of the apple pucker. Just make sure the total of the two together comes to 1 cup.
Or you can make virgin jello shots, by replacing the alcohol completely with apple juice.
Fill the shot glasses about 3/4 full.
Chill and serve
Cover and refrigerate until set, at least 3 to 4 hours or up to a day.
If you want to get fancy, top each jello shot with half a strawberry before serving.
For a virgin version, replace the sour apple pucker with 1 cup of apple juice.
I like to serve Jello shots in 2-ounce plastic jello shot cups* with mini tasting spoons*. One-ounce cups are too small, 4-ounce cups are too big, and the spoon makes them much easier to eat.
Jello shots can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. They can last longer than that but they will start to lose their flavor and texture.

Apple Strawberry Jello Shots

- small sauce pan
- mixing bowl, preferably with a spout
- measuring cup
- 1 cup apple juice
- 1 cup Sour Apple Pucker
- 1 3-ounce package strawberry jello
- Arrange shot glasses in a shallow baking dish, cookie sheet or tray.
- In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of apple juice to a boil.
- In a bowl or large measuring cup, mix the boiling apple juice with the strawberry gelatin until fully dissolved, about 1 minute.
- Stir in 1 cup of sour apple pucker.
- Fill each of the shot glasses about ¾ full with the mixture.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until fully set.
- Putting the jello shot cups on a cookie sheet or baking dish helps to prevent spills and makes it easier to transfer the jello shots to the refrigerator.
- Jello shots can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days if necessary.
- For a stronger jello shot, substitute apple vodka for the sour apple pucker. Or use a combination of the two, as long as the total amount of alcohol comes to 1 cup.
- To make weaker jello shots, replace part of the sour apple pucker with apple juice. Just make sure the total of the two together comes to 1 cup.
- To make virgin apple strawberry Jello shots, replace all of the alcohol with 1 cup of apple juice.
