How To Make a Heart Shaped Valentine Cake

ENTERTAINING DIVA

First let me say that I am not a talented baker by any stretch of the imagination. So when I say that making a heart shaped Valentine cake is really easy to do, it really is!

Make the cake as you normally would (except for the different shaped pans). Cut the round cake in half.

When the cake layers have finished cooling, cut the round cake in half. Position the half round cakes on the flat edges of the square cake.

Turn the square so that one of the corners is pointing towards you.  Then match the cut sides of the round cake halves to the flat ends of the square cake that are facing away from you.

And voila…you have a heart shape. Don’t worry if the edges don’t match exactly, you can smooth them out when you put the icing on.

After you ice the cake, you won’t be able to tell there are joins. Add some icing and you can’t tell at all where the joins are! Add your decorations.
