Instructions
Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Crush the cookies into crumbs, using a bag and meat tenderizer or rolling pin, or a food processor.
Mix the cream cheese and crushed cookies with an electric mixer or food processor until completely combined.
Form the mixture into one inch balls, then set on a baking sheet about 1 inch part.
Freeze for 10 minutes.
Melt candy in the microwave or over a double boiler.
Remove balls from the freezer.
Dip into melted candy and place on the second baking sheet.
Top with sprinkles while the melted candy is still wet.
Notes
Candy melts go from not melted to burnt very fast in the microwave. To prevent this, cook them for 30 seconds at 50% heat. Stir. Then repeat as many times as necessary until they are melted.
Since these Oreo balls have cream cheese in them, they need to be stored in the refrigerator (for up to a week) or freezer (for up to a month). Bring to room temperature before serving.
To make the process easier, you may want to use two parchment-covered baking sheets. One for the balls before they are coated with candy and one to put them on after they are coated with candy.
