Direct your guests to the front door with a misleading Speakeasy sign.

2 | DIY Speakeasy Liquor Boxes
Give your bar area a genuine speakeasy feel by using vintage liquor boxes.
I made these by covering boxes with kraft paper, printing out liquor labels and taping them onto the boxes.
Then stacked them up with empty crates, fake money, empty wine bottles and other prohibition era props.

3 | Wine Bottle Candleholders
You can use wine bottles to create inexpensive but elegant candleholders.
Spray paint empty wine bottles in gold or black, and then wrap them with strands of pearls, lace and ribbons to dress them up.
You can also place white feathers or long-stemmed flowers into the bottles for that opulent Gatsby feel.

Adding gold to the stems of your glassware is a subtle touch that can elevate the entire table setting.
The easiest way to do this is to spray paint inexpensive wine glasses. Or coupe glasses if you really want to go with a 20’s vibe.

6 | Plastic Champagne Glass Tower
Create the ultimate symbol of Gatsby’s extravagance with a champagne glass tower.
Using plastic champagne glasses cuts down on the expense and the potential for a major catastrophe if someone knocks it over.
The pyramid still looks dramatic whether you put champagne in the glasses or not. I didn’t want to deal with the mess at my party so I filled them with tealight candles.

7 | DIY decorated Gatsby Candles
Candles are the perfect way to add ambient lighting to any event.
I like to dress up flame-less pillar candles by wrapping them with ribbon or colored paper that matches the party decor.
For the 1920s feel, I went with white, gold and black decorations.
You can add even more glamour by gluing faux diamonds or pearls around the candles if you want to.

8 | “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” Sign
This iconic quote from the Gatsby era is the perfect touch for your party.
Create a sign using a blackboard, and write the quote with gold paint.
Then add some art deco borders to the sign for a classic 1920s design.
If you don’t want to draw it by hand, read how to make a Gatsby blackboard sign (and get the free Cricut cut file).
9 | DIY Sand and Pearls Candle Holder
Combine texture and elegance with these DIY sand and pearl candle holders.
Fill glass candleholders halfway with sand, place a candle inside and scatter faux pearls on the sand.
If you use a candleholder with a stem, you could tie a gold ribbon around the stem to add a little more glam.
